Granton Given Own State Football Trophy

Monday, April 30th, 2012 -- 10:22 AM

On Saturday night Greenwood/Granton head football coach Chad Hanson and assistant coach Dean Lindner presented the Granton team members with the school's own state championship trophy at the annual Granton spring athletic banquet. It's the first ever state trophy for Granton High School.

Five of the ten players were present to accept the trophy. The players in attendance included senior Ben Eichten, sophomores Josh Short and Devin Klein, and freshmen Kevin Johnson and Brandon Anding.

After the banquet the players and Granton Athletic Director, Dan Poppe, placed the trophy in the high school trophy case.

The school boards of Greenwood and Granton worked together to purchase a second trophy because te WIAA only supplies each team with one trophy.
