There are some big matchups this Friday night around the area in high school football. Let's start in the Cloverwood Conference where 5-1 Greenwood/Granton will go up against 5-1 Wisconsin Rapids Assumption at Dr. William A. Olson Field in Greenwood. Greenwood/Granton is ranked 5th in the WisSports.net/coaches poll in Division 7 while Assumption is ranked #12. This game will feature two of the premier running backs in the conference with Hayden Hinker of Greenwood/Granton gaining 731 yds so far and 7 touchdowns while Assumption counters with Tyler Pawelski who has 740 yds rushing and 9 touchdowns. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs but another win will give them a better seed. You can hear this game live on 92.7 FM WPKG this Friday night at 7 pm. Also this Friday night in the Marawood Conference it's the Edgar vs. Stratford showdown. Edgar (6-0) is the number one team in Division 6 while Stratford (5-1) is #7 in Division 5. The winner of this one will surely be the Marawood champ. Edgar is dominating again this year having scored over 330 points while giving up just 26. Another big matchup this Friday happens in Marshfield where it's homecoming as the Tigers go up against Wisconsin Rapids. Both teams come with 4-0 records in the Valley Football Association - South Division so the winner will have the upper hand in that conference.
