WALTEMATE WINS STATE BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP

Monday, May 17th, 2010 -- 10:59 AM

Zach Waltemate of the Community Boxing Club in Neillsville won the 154 pound Novice Division crown this past weekend at the Junior Olympics in Racine. Zach went up against Patty Sullivan of Marshfield in a 3 round match that ended in the 2nd round by a "ref stops contest" ruling. Zach will now move on to box at the 4-state Regional this coming weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska. There will be 4 individuals in each weight class and Zach will be boxing again at 154 pounds. If he wins his match on Saturday he will box in the championship on Sunday with a chance to move on to Nationals this summer.
