Neillsville Boys And Girls Basketball Teams In Championship Games

Both the Neillsville boys and girls basketball teams will play in the Auburndale Holiday Tournament Championship games on Tuesday.

Monday's Results:

Girls:

Neillsville 55, Auburndale 43 - Neillsville led 19-18 at the half and trailed by 9 with 11 minutes left in the second half to the Eagles before turning up the defensive pressure and converting free throws to pull away for the victory.  The Warriors (9-0) were led by Emma Moseley who scored 11 of her game high 14 points in the second half.  Amelia Trunkel had 11 points and Bella Opelt added 10.   Annamarie Aue led Auburndale (6-3) with 13 points.  Neillsville will now play Wauwatosa West (2-6) in the Championship Game at 3 pm today.  Wauwatosa West beat Mosinee 57-55 in overtime on Monday.  Mosinee (7-2) will face Auburndale in the Consolation Game at 12:30 pm.

 

Boys:

Neillsville 61, Augusta 46 - The Warriors got out to a big lead but then went cold from the field and Augusta cut the lead down to 7 at 32-25 going into the locker room at halftime.  Neillsville (4-1) did get things going offensively in the second half and were able to build a lead that Augusta (0-6) could not come back from.  Leading scorer Braden Trunkel got into foul trouble and was on the bench for several minutes of the first half.  He came in averaging 20 points a game and he finished with just 6 points.  Neillsville sophomore Andrew Brown led all scorers with 19 points, Teagen Dillenbeck added 15 for the Warriors.   Dalton Robinson came off the bench to lead Augusta with 12 points, Aiden Anderson added 11.  Auburndale beat Weyauwega-Fremont 81-42 in the other matchup on Monday so Neillsville will now play Auburndale (5-2) in the Championship Game tonight at 7:30 and Weyauwega-Fremont (2-6) will face Augusta in the Consolation Game at 5:45 pm.
