Neillsville Booster Club Girl’s Youth Basketball Tournament Results

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual Girl’s Youth Basketball Tournament on Sunday, March 13th.   Eighteen, 5th-8th grade teams from around Central Wisconsin competed in the tournament.

Placing first in the 5th grade division were the Stanley-Boyd Orioles as they finished the day with a perfect 3-0 record. The local Neillsville squad, who were coached by Kyle Julien and Nick Cappadora picked up the silver medals. The members of the team included: Ella Erickson, Aubrey Lewis, Keena Jahn, Gena Dolle, Courtney Paine, Gwyn Borzillo, Eden Marg, Maddie Newbury, Tori Cappadora & Tinley Wuethrich. Rounding out the bracket were Marshfield and Granton.

In the sixth-grade division, Onalaska reigned supreme with the hometown girls grabbing the runner-up status. The team coached by Rachelle Buettner & Sarah Christensen included: Riley Hemp, Katie Rose, Brailey Opelt, Jada Bottlemy, Maddie Shaw, Nevaeh Stenulson, Addie Kranz, Marie Hagmann and Lexi Harrington. Amherst, Altoona, Blair-Taylor and Colfax completed the bracket.

In the 7th grade division, the Warriors topped the bracket as they completed a perfect 3-0 record. Members of the team who are coached by Kevin Dittner & Chris Warren include: Madi Davel, Braelyn Anding, Ella Dittner, Layla Walk, Tessa Warren, Katelyn Vine, Brailey Opelt, Riley Hemp and Jayda Bottlemy. The squad representing the Auburndale Apaches grabbed the silver medals, while Bangor & Edgar completed the bracket.

In the final 8th grade bracket, the local girls again showed off their skills, going undefeated on the day as they dropped Bloomer, Marshfield and Colfax. The team lead by Jamie Kuhn and Kevin Langreck included:  Emerson Ormond, Dani Bobak, Jessa Kuhn, Rachel Dux, Olivia Langreck, Madi Davel, Braelyn Anding, Ella Dittner and Layla Walk. 

In the daylong competition, twenty-seven games were contested.  The Booster Club would like to thank the many volunteers who helped make the tourney a huge success. All proceeds are used to support youth sports at Neillsville schools.
