Area Teams And Individuals to Compete At State Cross Country Meets

Area high school cross country teams and individuals will be competing on Saturday in the WIAA State Cross Country meets...The boys and girls Division 1 championships will be held at Arrowhead H.S. in Hartland, Wis. The Division 2 meets will be held at Colby H.S., and the Division 3 races will be held at Maple Grove Venues in West Salem.
Division 1
The Marshfield girls team will be participating. Last year’s runner-up Onalaska is back to challenge for the team title with all seven of the runners from last year’s team returning to the meet, including three that finished in the top 20.
Division 2
For the boys, Skylar Drinka of Neillsville/Granton and Avery Horvath of Loyal/Greenwood both advanced to State as individuals for the first time. Aquinas was the team champion in Division 3 the past two seasons. The Blugolds move up to challenge for the Division 2 title as well.
The Colby girls team as well as Savannah Schley of Loyal/Greenwood who moves up a division following a 12th-place run in Division 3 last season and a 15th-place finish in 2018.
Division 3
The McDonell Central boys and Assumption and Auburndale girls teams. Auburndale has five returning runners back from the team that placed third a year ago and was runner-up in 2018. Individuals in the Division3 field include Jenna Anders of Fall Creek and Bailey Peterson of Augusta advance for the girls and Carl Lundgren of Auburndale and Andrew Scheer of Columbus Catholic for the boys
