Cloverbelt Votes On Fall Sports

Thursday, August 20th, 2020 -- 6:38 AM

The Cloverbelt Conference AD's met earlier this week to vote on playing football and girls volleyball this fall or moving to the spring.

On Tuesday it was decided that volleyball will be played in the Fall. According to Neillsville Athletic Director Matt Diestler, Neillsville's conference schedule will stay the same as it is on their webpage. Neillsville did lose most of their non-conference matches and almost all of the invitationals. They will be doing mostly conference duals this season as most schools are not hosting multiple schools. Diestler said that they will be meeting on September 23, before 50% or Neillsville’s season is done, and see how things are going. If they have schools not able to continue at that time they will move the rest of the season to the Spring.

As far as football goes, the football conference athletic directors voted on Wednesday to play football in the Fall. This decision is not necessarily final, the conference board of governors must pass it and each school’s school board will have final say if their school will participate in the Fall. Practice begins on September 7.
Each school will follow county guidelines/school board decisions as to if/or how many spectators will be allowed to attend games.
