Neillsville Boys Earn Share Of ECC Title

The Neillsville boys basketball team earned a share of the Eastern Cloverbelt title with Spencer after the Warriors beat Columbus Catholic on Monday night 68-55.The Warriors had 4 players in double figures in the win, led by Monte Diestler who had 19 points, Josiah Katcher added a season high 15, Drew Brown scored 14, and Braden Trunkel had 13. Cole Noreen scored a game high 23 points for the Dons.
The Warriors are now 18-3 overall and finish 15-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Columbus Catholic is 9-12 overall and ends up 8-8 and tied for fourth in the ECC.
Neillsville will take on Altoona in the first-place game on Saturday at Altoona. Spencer and Thorp will play in the second-place game at 1 p.m., with the Neillsville-Altoona contest to follow at approximately 2:30 p.m.
