Stratford And Edgar Battle For Marawood Title Friday

Probably the state's best small school rivalry and one of the best regardless of school size in high school football will be played this Friday as unbeaten Stratford is at unbeaten Edgar.These teams have combined for 20 state finals appearances and 14 championships (seven apiece). One of these teams has won at least a share of the Marawood Conference title every year except one since 1984. That run will come to an end after this year, however, as Stratford will be moved to the CWC next season.
However, there remains business to take care of first, as these have been two of the most dominant programs in the state this season. Stratford has yet to be scored on, averaging better than 59 points per game as well. Edgar has allowed just 20 points all year while averaging 41 points per game.
Edgar won the head-to-head matchup last year, topping Stratford 26-20 in the final regular season game thanks to a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds.
