Neillsville Girls Top No.3 Assumption

The Neillsville girls basketball team beat Assumption on Friday night 49-33. Assumption was ranked No. 3 in Division 5 coming into the game.The Warriors got up early and never let Assumption take a lead. Led by Jaden Barth and Kelly Barth, who each had a pair of 3-pointers in the first half, Neillsville took a 23-20 halftime lead. Kelly Barth had 10 of her team high 13 points in that first half.
The second half belonged to Ali Schoengarth and Bella Opelt who combined for combined for 15 points as Neillsville pulled away, outscoring the Royals 26-13.
The Warriors made 8 three pointers in the game and had 4 players in double figures, led by Kelly Barth's 13, and Jaden Barth, Schoengarth and Opelt each with 11. Jesse Grundhoffer led Assumption with 17 points including 12 for 12 from the free throw line.
Neillsville improves to 5-1 on the season while Assumption falls to 5-1.
