2 Big Innings Fuel Neillsville Win

Two 5 run innings provided the runs needed in an 11-1 Neillsville win over Loyal in high school baseball action on Tuesday at Henry Lukes Baseball Field in Neillsville.Neillsville took a 1-0 lead into the top of the third when Logan Matson led off the inning with a triple and the Warriors proceeded to send 9 batters to the plate and 5 runs came across to score on 4 hits including RBI singles from Jonah Zoschke and Luke Mayer.
Leading 6-1 in the bottom of the 4th, Matson again led off the inning getting on base, this time he was hit by a pitch. Zoschke singled and Marshall Opelt walked. Monte Diestler than hit a 3 RBI triple to make the score 9-1. An RBI single from Luke Erickson and an RBI ground out from Noah Henchen rounded out the scoring.
Opelt pitched all 5 innings for the Warrior allowing 1 run on 3 hits. He struck out 5 and walked 2.
Luke Bogdonovich took the loss for Loyal going 3 innings, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits, striking out 2 and walking 3.
Neillsville finished with 8 hits, Zoschke was 2 for 3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Henchen finished 1 for 3 with 3 RBI's. Ethan Weinfurtner had an RBI single for Loyal.
Neillsville will be at Colby on Thursday. Loyal will host Blair-Taylor.
