Matson Leads Pointers In Win

Neal Matson of Neillsville collected 5 hits in two games as UW-Stevens Point took a doubleheader from UW-Stout on Wednesday in Mauston.

Game 1 - UW-STEVENS POINT 10, UW-STOUT 1
Stevens Point collected 15 hits in the game one win and scored all 10 runs between the second and fifth innings. Matson posted three hits, including a double and home run, while also scoring three runs and driving in two more to lead UWSP. Ben Miller earned the win after allowing an unearned run on eight hits across six innings. Zach Miller tossed three shutout innings to pick up his first save of the year.

Game 2 - UW-STEVENS POINT 4, UW-STOUT 1 (14 INN.)
he Pointers posted three runs in the top of the 14th inning to claim game two. Nathan Mulzer and Drew Spaeth each pitched seven innings for UWSP. Matson had two hits in the game.

UWSP improved to 14-4 overall and a WIAC-leading 6-0. The Pointers are the only conference team to own a perfect record.

UWSP will look to improve its nine-game winning streak when it travels to take on UW-Oshkosh on Thursday
