WIAA And Resch Center Extend Agreement

Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 -- 1:29 PM

On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and PMI Entertainment agreed to a contract extension that grants the WIAA availability of the Resch Center for hosting high school State championships in girls volleyball, boys volleyball and girls basketball through the spring of 2025.

According the WIAA press release, the Resch Center, opened in 2002, has been the host venue for the WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament since 2002 and the State Girls Basketball Tournament since 2013. In January, the Board of Control approved the move of the Boys Volleyball State Tournament to the Resch Center to coincide with the State Girls Volleyball Tournament in Green Bay for a four-year commitment beginning in 2019.

“Our experience since 2002, and again since 2013, has been captured in the little details,” WIAA Executive Director Dave Anderson said. “ The little things that have allowed us to recognize what a great home, what great people, and what a great fit this venue and everyone here and around here has been for our tournaments.”

Attendance has increased significantly at the State Girls Volleyball Tournament since the move to the Resch Center, and last year’s Girls State Basketball Tournament experienced its largest attendance since the first year it moved to Green Bay.

The State Girls Basketball Tournament infuses approximately $2.5 million to the Green Bay community, and the State Girls Volleyball Tournament has a $700,000 economic impact on the area.
