The 2021 edition of the Marshfield Chapparals amateur baseball team will look to get their season started this Wednesday against Chippewa Falls at Jack Hackman Field.  Their first scheduled game against Merrill this past Sunday was rained out.

This year's team, with second year manager Luke Wirtz, will feature a number of players from area towns including Neillsville.

Jason Kurth is one of the returing players from Neillsville.  Kurth hit .305 last season and will DH and play in the infield this season.  Neillsville’s Cole Hediger will be new to the Chapparal lineup this year.  Cole will pitch and play outfield.

Caleb and Nathan Krommaneker of Wisconsin Rapids both return this year. They’re both pitchers at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and will pitch and play outfield for the Chaparrals.

Other returning players include Shawn O’Connell of Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield’s Isaiah Baierl and Hunter Korger, Will Lee, and Bobby Pilz and Al Lalicata of Spencer.

Other new faces along with Hediger include, Marshfield’s Jacob Earll, who will catch and play some third base, Wisconsin Rapids’ Garrett Huber and Marshfield’s Brent Ystad, who will both play outfield.

The Chapparals are also scheduled to host Plover on Friday night and Tomahawk Sunday afternoon at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield is the defending Dairyland League Champions as the league returns to its old format with most of the teams rejoining after a down year last year due to COVID.
