Neillsville Booster Club Fastpitch Softball Tourney Results

The Neillsville Booster Club held their “25th Annual,” Fastpitch Softball Tournament on Saturday, July 23rd in Neillsville.

Fifteen teams competed in the daylong tourney which saw 21 games contested.

In the “Varsity” division, Stratford reigned as champion with a perfect 3-0 record. Placing second was the local Neillsville squad who were coached by Robin & Cassie Harder & Courtney Poeschel. Members of the squad included: Kaelyn & Krista Krultz, Malory Zickert, Corrtney Schmidt, Ashlee Diestler, Molly Klein, Brianna Fischer, Katie Kunze, Riana Huth, Samantha Capadora, Morgan Bethea and Brianna Roehl. Athens finished in third place with the WCCV Starz coming in 4th. The Warriors were 2-1 on the day.

In the 14 & under bracket, the Owen Withee Blackhawks reigned as champion, with Neillsville picking up the silver medals as they compiled a 2-1 record. The team was coached by Carrie Schmidt, Sunni Opelt & Missy Stockheimer and included the following ladies, Callie Schmidt, Allison King, Catrina Craig, Bianca Fischer, Kaitlin Thoma, Ellie Moseid, Olivia Friemoth, Terren Stockheimer, Bella Opelt, Jaden Barth and Emily Hanson. Rounding out the bracket were Stratford and Athens.

In the 12 & under bracket the River City Rage of Sparta placed first with the hometown girls picking up the runner-up accolades. Members of the local team included: Emma Moseley, Lauren Langreck, Kylie Boyer, Morgan Gurney, Kati Mayer, Ava Mortenson, Amanda Schneider, Maggie Hoeser, Lizzy Jorgenson, and Kristin Strey. Stratford picked up third place in the division.

In the final bracket, the 10 & under, The Lady Warriors of Neillsville claimed the gold medals as they finished the day undefeated. The teams defense keyed the championship as they allowed a scant 2 runs the entire tourney. The team coached by Josh Johnson and Ricky Rochester included the following girls: Delainey Johnson, Amelia Trunkel, Delaney Rochester, Paris Opelt, Abby Mathis, Callie Mohr, Lainey Horn, Abigail Koepp, Lilly Opelt, Jada Gurney, Marie Jorgensen, Ella King, Paige Voigt.

The Booster Club would like to thank the many volunteers who helped make the tourney a huge success. All profits are used to support youth sports at Neillsville Schools.
