Neillsville Youth Compete In State "Tri-Star" Basketball Competition

Four students from Neillsville competed on April 16th in the Wisconsin Optimist Club, “Tri-Star” Basketball state competition in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.These individuals earned the chance to compete in the prestigious event by finishing in first place in the local contest held in February at the fieldhouse. Over 100 individuals from around Wisconsin competed in shooting, dribbling and passing events. The local contingent represented the Neillsville Optimist Club very successfully.
Delaney Rochester, daughter of Clarissa & Rick, a future standout at Neillsville High School for the lady Warriors placed 1st in the 10 year old competition and was awarded a trophy for her efforts. Also representing the Neillsville Optimist Club was Hunter Walter, son of Janell & Tim Walter who placed second in the 8 year old boy’s competition. Kara Oldham, daughter of Kim and Tim, participated in the 12 year old girls division and garnered 4th place in the highly competitive bracket. In the 9 year old female tourney, local standout Lilly Opelt, the daughter of Brandy and Carl secured a 5th place finish. All four young athletes worked very hard this past season to develop their outstanding skills.
