Neillsville Hangs On To Beat Greenwood

Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 -- 6:47 AM

The Neillsville girls softball team scored 5 runs in the first two innings and it proved to be enough in a 5-4 win over Greenwood on Tuesday.

The Warriors (3-3, 3-1) scored two runs in the first on a 2-run single from Jenna Pavlac. They added 3 more runs in the 2nd to take a 5-0 lead. That lead would hold up until the 6th inning when Greenwood was able to plate two runs thanks to a hit from Kassidy Lamovec. The Indians (4-4, 1-3) then scored 2 more runs in the 7th inning before Neillsville pitcher Krista Krultz was able to strike out Taylor Gregorich to end the game.

Krultz went the distance for the Warriors, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, striking out 6 and walking 3. Lexi Hinker took the loss for Greenwood allowing 5 runs on 10 hits, striking out 2 and walking 3.

Jenna Pavlac went 3 for 4 from the plate with 3 RBI's. Kassidy Lamovec went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's for the Indians.
