Neillsville Girls Improve To 9-2 In ECC

Friday, January 29th, 2016 -- 9:57 PM

The Neillsville girls basketball team improved to 9-2 in the Eastern Cloverbelt after a 42-30 win over Owen-Withee on Friday night.

The Warriors led 31-19 a the half and were 13-22 from the free throw line. But in the second half they looked to force the Hawks out of their zone by passing the ball around and running time off the clock while not looking to score for a large part of the second half. In fact, after 31 free throws were attempted total by both teams in the first half, neither team went to the line at all in the second half. Each team scored just 11 points in the half.

Neillsville was led by Mindy Schoengarth and Kayla Lis, each had 8 points while Owen-Withee's Whitney Baehr led all scorers with 10 points. Owen-Withee fell to 8-4 in the ECC.
