Loyal Girls Now 9-0 In ECC

The Loyal girls basketball team improved to 9-0 in the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference after a 53-41 win over Neillsville on Friday night.

The Greyhounds got out to a fast start thanks to a pair of three pointers from Ryleigh Wilke. They would never trail throughout the game. Senior Devyn Schoonover had the hot hand the Hounds in the first half scoring 14 of the team's 22 points. Neillsville was able to get back into the game in the first half thanks to a pair of three pointers each from Morgan Hauge and Ashlee Diestler. The Warriors trailed by just 4 at the half, 22-18.

In the second half, Loyal continued to maintain their lead which was at 12 at one point, but the Warriors kept fighting back and got to within 4 on a couple of occassions but the Hounds would extend it again thanks to some good free throw shooting from Schoonover and a pair of three's from Karsyn Rueth.

Schoonover finished with a game high 25 points including 9 for 10 from the line. Morgan Reinwand added 9 points. For Neillsville, Diestler and Dani Pfieffer led the way, each scoring 9 points. Mindy Schoengarth added 8.

Loyal is now 9-0 in the ECC, 2 games in front of Neillsville who is now 7-2. The Hounds are 11-4 overall and the Warriors, who had their 9 game winning streak snapped, are now 10-3.
