Coyotes Win Squirt B Tourney/Host Winter Classic This Weekend

Monday, January 11th, 2016 -- 11:20 AM

The Clark County Coyote youth hockey team won the Squirt B Tournament this past weekend in Menomonie.

January 9th and 10th proved to be another successful weekend for the Clark County Coyotes Youth Hockey Team. The squirt team traveled to the Menomonie Mustang's Tournament to face Menomonie, Rice Lake, and Black River Falls.

The Coyotes came out and made a statement against Rice Lake, taking a solid 7-1 victory. Game 2 featured a tilt with Black River Falls. The Coyotes took an early 3-0 lead, but the Tigers came roaring back. A hard fought game until the final buzzer, the Coyotes prevailed 5-4. Sunday morning, the championship was on the line and the Coyotes came to play versus Menomonie. A resounding 8-0 victory and a 1st place trophy. Wyatt Hanna and Sam Hayes had hat tricks; Sydney Magnuson received a zero patch for the shutout in net.

After a very satisfying tournament win, the Coyotes traveled to Onalaska to face the Tornado White team in league play. The Coyotes dug deep to continue their hot streak and prevailed 8-3.

The Clark County Youth Hockey team is excited to invite the whole community to come out and watch some great youth hockey this coming weekend at O'Neill Ice Arena, 1200 E. 15th St, Neillsville.

Teams will be traveling from Dodgeville, Wausau, Marshfield, Mosinee, and LaCrescent, Minnesota, to vie to be crown the first ever "Coyote Winter Classic" champion.

The Coyotes start the action on Saturday at 9 AM against DC Everest, with games all day Saturday and Sunday. Come cheer on your Clark County Coyotes!

The Coyotes would also like to invite the community to come out and enjoy free skating on Saturday, January 16th, from 7-9 PM. A warm building is open all night and concessions will be available.
