Loyal Tops Neillsville In Season Opener

The Loyal Greyhound girls basketball team opened their season with a 50-43 win over Neillsville on Friday night at Neillsville High School Fieldhouse.The Greyhounds never trailed in the game, as Neillsville struggled to put the ball in the basket in the first half and Loyal led 25-14 going into the locker room.
In the second half, both teams upped their defensive intensity and Neillsville was able to hit some shots and force Greyhound turnovers to get to within one point several times, but Loyal answered each time and were able to get the win 50-43.
Loyal was led by Morgan Reinwand with 15 points and Ryleigh Wilke added 13. Neillsville was led by Mindy Schoengarth who scored 11 points, 8 of those in the second half. The Warriors were just 9 for 20 from the free throw line.
Neillsville (0-1) is at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Tuesday night while Loyal (1-0) will host Gilman on Tuesday.
