Zimmermann Is Winningest Pitcher In Nationals History

Thursday, May 1st, 2014 -- 1:04 PM

Auburndale native, Jordan Zimmermann earned the win against the Houston Astros on Wednesday night, and it meant more than just his second victory of the season.

The right-hander is now the winningest pitcher in Washington Nationals history (2005-present) with 45, passing Livan Hernandez for the top spot on the list.

Zimmermann reached the achievement with one of his most effective outings. He lasted 6 1/3 innings against the Astros, shutting them out while allowing seven hits and fanning seven for his fourth straight quality start.

In his 7th season with the Nationals, Zimmermann ranks 14th on the franchise's all-time list, which includes the Expos. The Nationals are 62-41 (.602 win percentage) in games he's started since he returned from Tommy John surgery in August 2009.
