YOUTH BOOSTER CLUB BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RESULTS

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual Girl?s Youth Basketball Tournament on Sunday, March 9th.

Thirty-two, 5th through 8th grade teams from around Central Wisconsin competed in the tournament.
Placing first in the 5th grade division was a squad representing Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, with Loyal placing second. Finishing in third place was the Neillsville Red team as they edged Colby 21-14 in the deciding game. The team coached by Missy Stockheimer, Sunni Opelt & Taylor Gleisner includes: Terren Stockheimer, Bella Opelt, Dakota Brietung, Ariana Rochester, Jaden Barth, Taylor Boon, Aubrey Anderson, Libney Castillo, Emily Hanson, Kayla Ratsch, Emma Vance, Katelyn Zimmerman, Joi Reimer, and Jada Harris.

The Neillsville 4th grade squad also competed in the tournament and had a solid showing as they split their two contests, defeating Marshfield and dropping a hard fought battle to Greenwood. Members of the young team who were coached by Jenny Reinart and Steve Oldham included; Emma Moseley, Kati Mayer, Kylie Boyer, Courtney Oldham, Maggie Hoeser, Ava Mortenson, Skylar Hart, McKenzie Keller, Rylie Courtney and Kara Oldham.

In the 6th grade division, Osseo-Fairchild reigned as champion as they knocked off Neillsville Red in the contest for the gold medals. Members of the local squad who were coached by Brian Fischer included: Chloee Lowry, Montana Opelt, Kaia Moseid, Abby Averill, Catrina Craig, Parker Millard, Jada Salisbury, Bianca Fischer and Tara Jiskra. Third place was awarded to Colby who snuck by the Neillsville White team. The team who was coached by Tim Voigt included: Olivia Friemoth, Kaitlin Thoma, Callie Schmidt, Robin Bibeau, Ellie Moseid, Kayla Oldham, Alli Schoengarth, Riley Voigt, Taylan Schoengarth and Deijanira Diaz Santiago. Winning the consolation championship was Loyal as they creeped by Black River Falls. Rounding out the 6th grade bracket was Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, Granton, Greenwood and Osseo-Fairchild.

In the 7th grade bracket the local Warriors reigned as champ as they buried Blair Taylor in the gold medal game. The team coached by Jamie Kuhn included; Bailey Schumacher, Kelly Barth, Sami Kuhn, Madelyn Koprek, Samantha Cappadora, Katie Kunze, Maggie McDonald, Vanessa Zickert and Madelyn Chadwick. Marshfield defeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption for third while Pittsville edged Greenwood for 5th place.

In the final bracket, the Marshfield Tigers were crowned champion, with Prentice taking second and Osseo-Fairchild third. Placing 4th was Eau Claire United. In the Consolation bracket Wisconsin Rapids Assumption edged Pittsville with the home standing Neillsville Warriors bumping off Greenwood. Members of the 8th grade team that is coached by Duane King included: Kaelyn Krultz, Molly Klein, Morgan Bethea, McKayla Knuth, Grace King, Erin & Emily Voigt, Loren Mesar, Alycia Zickert, Charity Hribar and Oliva Hanson.

In the daylong competition, forty-nine games were contested. The Booster Club would like to thank the many volunteers who helped officiate, scorekeep, take tickets or work the concession stand. All proceeds are used to support youth sports at Neillsville schools.
