Booster Club Boys Basketball Tournament Results

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual ?Youth Boys Basketball Tournament? on Sunday, February 16th with 25 area teams participating.

Forty games were contested throughout the day with the following champions noted.

In the 5th grade division, first place was captured by Stratford as they edged Tomah in the championship game. Taking home the bronze medals was Auburndale as they snuck by the Neillsville squad. Members of the local team which are coached by Ron Trunkel, Mike Gross and Dewey Poeschel include Braden Trunkel, Stone Johnson, Andrew Gross, Trevor Harrison, Trumale Myers, Isaiah Hurst, Eric Moltzen & Andrew Brown.

In the 6th grade division the Eau Claire Kings edged the hometown Warriors, who are coached by Matt Diestler for the gold medals. Members of the Neillsville squad included: Alex King, Nick Derfus, Monte Diestler, Isaac Weiers, Josiah Katcher, Cade Struensee & Dominique Elmhorst. Placing third was Osseo-Fairchild by virtue of their win over Spencer. In the consolation bracket Greenwood secured the championship followed by Colby Gold, Colby Green and Gilman.

In the 7th grade division five teams competed for the top spot with the Greenwood Indians reigning supreme. Taking second place was Cadott, followed by Gilman, Neillsville and Granton. Members of the Warrior team, coached by Tim Voigt included: Joey Anason, Cole Hediger, Trevor Zurakowski, Luke Mayer, Ethan Kranz, Hunter Hand, Caden Ehlers and Logan McQuade.

In the 8th grade bracket the boys from Greenwood claimed the championship with Marshfield second. Neillsville whose team members included: Noah Henchen, Logan Matson, Nate Weiers, Tyler Pfeiffer, Nolan Watton and Brandon Humbolt placed third with Osseo-Fairchild securing fourth. Coaching the Warrior 8th grade squad was Adam Luchterhand .

The tournament, sponsored by the Booster Club was conducted with a tremendous amount of volunteer help and all proceeds are used to support youth sports at Neillsville Schools. The Booster Club would like to thank the many, many volunteers who help out; your support is very much appreciated.
