Chadwick?s Hard Work Makes Him A 4-Time Champion

Thursday, February 13th, 2014 -- 6:47 AM

Senior Mike Chadwick of the Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal wrestling team became the first four-time Cloverbelt Conference champion in four different weight classes in Neillsville history at the Cloverbelt Conference Tournament last Saturday.

Chadwick joins Dan Schoen (2009-2012) and Phillip Opelt (2010-2013) as the only 4-time conference champions in Neillsville?s storied wrestling history.

Chadwick won conference as a freshman at 125, as a sophomore at 132, as a junior at 138 and this year as a senior at 145. Mike said that of those four the toughest weight class was his sophomore year at 132, when had to wrestle Robert Csukker of Stanley-Boyd/Thorp/Owen-Withee.

Mike has been wrestling since grade school and coming up through those younger years he knew that putting in the hard work, time and effort it would pay off. He also said the time in the weight room and being at practice all the time are keys to his success.

This Saturday Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal will host a Regional at the Fieldhouse in Neillsville and Mike will be wrestling in the same weight class that he qualified for State at last year ? 138 pounds. In that weight class will be Robert Csukker of Stanley-Boyd/Thorp/Owen-Withee who is currently ranked No.1 in Division 2 while Chadwick is ranked No. 8 at 138 pounds. Mike hopes to win that Regional and move on to Sectionals and do well there as well.

With all the success he has had over the years, Mike?s advice to the younger kids who are now coming up through grade school and junior high is to put in the time to get what need, train hard and give it your all.

Congratulations again to Mike Chadwick of the NGL wrestling team on being the first 4-time conference champ in 4 different weight classes in Neillsville history.
