WIAC Teams Receive NCAA Women's Volleyball Bids

Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 -- 10:21 AM

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater has received a bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.

The Pointers claimed an automatic bid by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament title, while the Warhawks earned one of 21 available at-large bids into the 64-team field. This marks the 11th straight year that the WIAC will have multiple teams participate in the event.

UW-Stevens Point (31-4) earned the sixth NCAA bid in program history - and third straight - and will participate in regional competition hosted by University of St. Thomas (Minn.) in St. Paul, Minn., beginning on Thursday. The Pointers will meet Wartburg College (Iowa) (25-11) in their first round match.

UW-Whitewater (27-11) will make its 22nd consecutive NCAA appearance and 26th in program archives. The Warhawks will travel to Elmhurst, Ill., for regional action hosted by Elmhurst College and open against Washington University (Mo.) (26-7) on Thursday.
