Local fans react to 2012 London Olympics

Sunday, July 29th, 2012 -- 7:22 AM

After spending nearly 42 million dollars on the opening ceremony, London is ready for the games to begin and so are fans.

"I'm super excited it?s like my favorite part in the summertime," said Hannah Graves who lives in Eau Claire.

Numerous events are set to take place like swimming, which seems to be the favorite this year.

"The swimming and the marathon, the running. I'm a runner and Iove to watch the running part of it," said Darven Miller, who lives in Chippewa Falls.

"I like the swimming and the gymnastics and I like the floor exercise," said Karey Paulson, who lives in Eau Claire.

"I like the swimming, the track and field events,? said James Hass who lives in Milwaukee.

People also say they're excited to see the 15,000 person cast perform at the opening ceremony.

"The opening ceremonies and seeing the people on the podium with the gold for USA and seeing the emotions of it all," said Paulson.

Meanwhile people from around the world will be watching Michael Phelps swim for the record of most Olympics medals.

"I have confidence that he's going to so it?ll be interesting to see what happens," said Miller.

But that's not all people in Eau Claire will be cheering for.

"Gabby I'm rooting for her. She seems spunky kind of like me when I was 16," said Paulson.

"It brings the whole country together and its pretty cool that were all like cheering for the same squad and were not all divided for professional sports anymore," said Graves.

?GO USA!,? said Miller.
