Jackson County Inmates Beat Up Store Clerk in Florida

Friday, July 27th, 2012 -- 7:36 AM

-New video has surfaced of the escaped Jackson County inmates beating and robbing a store clerk.

The surveillance video shows the two inmates robbing a gas station and beating a 71-year-old store clerk in Florida.

The robbery happened in the town of Seffner on Sunday.

Investigators say James Newman, 29, and James Misleveck, 18, went into the store with a knife.

The video shows Newman slamming the man to the ground and then both beat him up.
The men grabbed the cash drawer from inside the register and ran. The clerk was taken to the hospital where he is still recovering.

The men could face serious consequences for the crime spree in Wisconsin and for their conduct in Florida.

They could face multiple felonies in Jackson County alone for carjacking a woman at a Black River Falls casino and holding her for six hours before letting her go in Sparta.

Simply threatening to take someone's car carries a sentence of up to 40 years.

However, Wisconsin will not have a chance to prosecute the men for a while, as prosecutors in Florida will get the first shot.

If both men agree to extradition back to Wisconsin the process will happen much faster, otherwise the state governors will have to sign off on it.
