Buglaries in Eastern Clark County

Friday, July 13th, 2012 -- 8:14 AM

-The Clark County Sheriff's Department is investigating a series of daytime burglaries that have occurred in towns along the county's eastern border.

Over a dozen thefts have happened during the past four weeks in Clark County, happening in Colby, Unity, Sherman and Fremont.

The thefts have involved unknown people entering outer buildings and homes and stolen items include jewelry, household items, tools and equipment.

Some of the incidents were witnessed by neighbors, but because of the time of day, they felt it was not suspicious.

"A lot of people think it?s normal activity happening at these residences, and it's not,? Jim Backus, Chief Deputy of the Clark County Sheriff?s Department said.

The Sheriff's Department has dealt with daytime burglaries in the past, but they're typically random and "never to the extent of this," Backus continued.

Police don't know whether it's one person or multiple suspects, but the perpetrators have been "very careful in what they're doing."

The Sherriff?s Department asks that you call 911 if you witness any suspicious vehicles or people.
