Wood County Concerned About Large Dairy

-Wood County officials won't have much input in the proposed placement of a large-scale dairy in Saratoga. However, the project has many potential positive impacts on the county.
If Wysocki Produce, headquartered in Bancroft, builds the proposed 3,500-cow, 6,000-acre dairy in Saratoga, it could affect county roads and snowmobile trails.
However, the dairy would employ about 25 full-time workers and the Saratoga area would probably see a benefit in the local housing market.
Saratoga residents have filled the Town Hall twice in recent weeks to hear about the possible impact of the dairy on water quality in the community, and many have said they want the dairy stopped.
The county won't have a lot of involvement in the permitting process for the dairy. The company needs a sanitation permit and will have to comply with some shoreland zoning rules.
