Second Graders Raise Money for Kampmeyer Family

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 -- 10:35 AM

-Second graders at an area elementary school baked up some tasty treats for a fundraiser benefiting a fallen firefighter.

Jamison Kampmeyer died battling a blaze at the Abby Theater in Abbotsford earlier this month. He left behind a wife and three children. A memorial fund for Kampmeyer's family has been set up in his honor.

According to WAOW, it was less than three weeks ago that Kampmeyer died, and a community still mourning is coming together to help.

"We're raising money for a firefighter that died," said second grader Jake Seifert.

"He lost his life helping us," Medford Elementary School second grader Emma Brost said.

"We are giving money to his family," second grader Brigham Kelley said.
During lunch, second graders lined up to sell delicious treats to their classmates.

"We have a cookie and lemonade stand," Brost said.
And the class held fundraisers before for various causes, but this one hits closer to home.

The second grade students were able to raise more than $2,000. That money will go to the Kampmeyer family, as well as the Colby and Medford Fire Departments.
