Marshfield Residents Enjoy Enrichment Program at Wildwood Zoo

Monday, March 19th, 2012 -- 8:26 AM

-Officals at the Wildwood Zoo in Marshfield have found that animals aren't much different from children.

According to the Marshfield New Herald, 3-year-old Lillian Ford of Marshfield also decided this as she watched the bison herd at the city's Wildwood Zoo cavort in its pasture Saturday morning.

The bison galloped, snorted and charged at a former Christmas tree that was placed in their enclosure for the morning's enrichment program. Participants interacted with zoo staff members and volunteers as the bison, deer and elk were given their morning feeding of hay and grain.

"They're like little children playing together," said Lillian's grandmother, Gayle Peterson of Marshfield.

About 30 people participated in the quarterly enrichment program of the Wildwood Zoological Society that exposes visitors to some of the behind-the-scenes activities at the zoo.
