Local District Attorny Not Seeking Re-Election

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 -- 8:26 AM

-The Local District Attorney is not seeking re-election.

Darwin Zwieg, has been the Clark County District Attorney for 32 years. He started as the assistant district attorney in 1978 and was then appointed to district attorney in 1980.

He said he wasn't going to seek re-election because of the time he has already put in. He simply feels it is time to move on.

Darwin also said that he was going to miss working with all the people he has gotten to know over the years including the sheriff's department and his assistant, Richard Lewis, as well as others.

He doesn't know who's going to take over for him, but cautions that whoever is interested that they not take the postion lightly.

Darwin isn't sure what his future will hold, but he admits that is the luxury of retiring.

The new DA would start on January 7th of 2013.
