Osseo-Fairchild Chooses "Thunder" Nickname

An area school has a new nickname. [i]WEAU-TV[/i] reports Osseo-Fairchild will be known as the ?Thunder.?The name was unveiled last night during the first home basketball game of the year.
The school had to drop its ?Cheiftans? nickname under a recently passed state law.
Thunder is an allusion to Frank Thunder, a Ho-Chunk Nation leader depicted in the old logo.
Thunder was a write-in option that beat out Bengals, Phoenix, Osprey and Dragons.
