Friday, March 4th, 2011 -- 10:02 AM

A 41-year-old man was killed early yesterday morning when his snowmobile crashed into a tree west of Granton. The victim was identified as Kelly Decorah of Spencer.

Decorah was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred about 2 a.m. Decorah was westbound out of Granton when his sled veered to the right, striking a tree.

Decorah was ejected, hit the tree and traveled another 49 feet in the air before striking the ground. Interviews indicate Decorah was drinking prior to the snowmobile trip.

Decorah is survived by his wife and six children, ages 4 through 18. The DNR investigation into the crash is continuing.
