SENATE DEMS STILL ON THE RUN

Friday, February 18th, 2011 -- 12:20 PM

Hollywood couldn?t write a stranger script.

'Wisconsin's' State Senate was expected to meet Thursday and pass a bill that would strip public employee unions of collective bargaining powers and force them to pay more for health care and pension benefits.

As you?ve heard by now, Democrats didn?t show up. They fled the state, reportedly by bus, to Rockford, Illinois. One Senator said they were ?on the move,? after 'Wisconsin's' State Patrol was directed to apprehend them and bring them back to the Senate Chambers.

You see, the Senate needs a quorum of 20 senators to take action. There are only 19 Republicans.

After appearing on ABC?s Good Morning America Friday morning from an ?undisclosed location,? Democratic senate leader Mark Miller said he knew a vote would be taken eventually, but his colleagues wanted to delay it.

Now there?s word that state troopers have been sent to Miller?s home in Monona and told to bring him back to the Senate Chambers.

No word on if Miller is even there. The Senate Majority Leader says he just wants to send a message to Miller that he needs to get back to Madison.
