Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 -- 12:13 PM

A dozen Wisconsin Army National Guard soldiers have received the Purple Heart for wounds they suffered in Afghanistan last year.

Eleven soldiers from the Rhinelander-based 951st Engineer Company received the medals during a ceremony on Friday at the Rhinelander armory.

The unit worked to clear improvised explosive devices from roads. Sgt. Ryan Adams was killed in action on Oct. 2 in Logar Province.

All the 951st's soliders have earned the Valorous Unit award, which recognizes heorism in action against an armed enemy.
