FARM TECHNOLOGY DAYS KICK OFF TODAY

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 -- 10:37 AM

The state's biggest agriculture exposition starts today at Roger and Beverly Peterson's dairy south of River Falls - a family-owned 2,100-acre operation that consists of a newly-remodeled dairy barn with modern milking parlor. Thousands of people spent Monday putting up banners, and putting the finishing touches on displays for the event. Farm Technology Days runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today
and tomorrow, and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday. About 80-thousand people expected to attend the three-day show. More than 850 exhibitors and vendors will be there -- including 240 agri-business vendors. Numerous tours and demonstrations are planned all three days. A free old-time "barn dance" is set for tomorrow night. To get to the show, visitors can simply follow directional signs located on Interstate 94, or Highways 10 or 29. Visitors wanting to avoid the hassle of fighting traffic are also invited to park at the Pierce County Fairgrounds in Ellsworth and catch a bus to Tent City. Daily admission is $5.00 for ages 12 years of age and older. Children are free. Next year it will be held in Marathon County.
