STATE SEN. TOUTS 'CORE' PLAN

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 -- 11:24 AM

A local lawmaker is touting Senate passage of the CORE Jobs Act.

State Sen. Pat Kreitlow (D-Chippewa Falls) was an author of package, which he hopes will create new jobs and encourage economic development through new and expanded tax credit programs targeted at job creation.

CORE stands for Connecting Opportunities Research and Entrepreneurship.

"I've already met with entrepreneurs who see our area as an ideal area for green energy production and nanotech-related industry," Kreitlow says. "The CORE Jobs Bill has incentives for all of those industries to grow."

The program expands tax credits for angel and venture capitol investment and increases funding for the Wisconsin Development Fund, which helps start-up and expanding businesses through grant programs.
