THERE WERE A PAIR OF BANK ROBBERIES WEDNESDAY

Thursday, January 14th, 2010 -- 11:07 AM

There were two bank robberies in the area Wednesday.

The first was in Warrens. The Monroe County Sheriff?s Department, the Warrens Police Department and the La Crosse Office of the FBI are investigating the attempted armed bank robbery that occurred at the F & M Bank. At about 9:02 a.m., two unidentified male suspects, believed to be Caucasian, wearing dark colored ski masks, drove up and parked in front of the bank. Both suspects then exited their vehicle and walked to the front of the building. One of the suspects carried some sort of a long gun. One suspect attempted to open the front door and enter the bank, however, the bank was not yet open for business and the door was locked. Both suspects immediately returned to their vehicle and drove off.
The suspect vehicle was described as a green 2008 Ford F-250 4x4 Crew Cab pickup truck.

The Eau Claire area has been beset by a number of bank robberies in recent months. There was another Wednesday, as a man claiming to have a weapon held up the US Bank on Golf Road. He fled to the nearby Oakwood Mall.

He is still on the run.

Officers say they're looking for a white man in his 20's who was wearing a dark two toned ski jacket, dark hooded sweatshirt and dark glasses. He's between 5 foot 8 and 5 foot 10.

There was a rash of bank robberies back in October, two of which were in Eau Claire and are still unsolved.
