THEIDE TO BE RELEASED NEXT WEEK

A convicted murderer and sex offender will be released from prison next week and could reside in the Neillsville area.40-year-old Gary Thiede has served a prison sentence for 2nd degree murder, 3rd degree sexual assault and attempted child enticement. Thiede was convicted of the grisly 1988 stabbing death of a 16-year-old boy from Hatfield.
He is a level 3 sex offender, who officials say has the potential to re-offend.
According to the notification from the Neillsville Police Department, the 40-year-old will be eligible for release on December 29th. He will be housed at the Clark County Jail pending his ability to locate a suitable residence. He will be allowed to have supervised releases each day in an attempt to find a home.
Because he was a resident of the city of Neillsville at the time of his crimes, he can live in the city limits.
Thiede will remain under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections until September of 2016.
