BUSY SEASON FOR POST OFFICE

As most people are heading indoors for the winter, letter carriers are busier than ever.?Tis the season for holiday mailings.
Neillsville Postmaster Lisa Schilling says everything?s been going smoothly, so far. There are some things you can do to make life easier for your letter carrier.
"If they have a whole bunch, it's great if you slip a rubber band around it," she urges, "what else helps is if you keep your mail toward the front of your mailbox. That really does help."
And, it?s important to put the postage on the letter. During other times of the year, employees will do it for you?not during the Christmas rush.
And, taping money to an envelope just causes more headaches.
"It's even harder if you tape the money to your envelope, because we have to try to get that tape off. Sometimes we rip the card or the envelope. It's best if you just put it right there on top of the envelope," she says.
If your shipping packages this year, Schilling says the ?flat rate boxes? have become a big hit.
"If it fits, it ships, just like the commercial says. It's going to be the same if you're sending it your aunt down the road, or someone in California," she explains.
The Neillsville Post Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 4:30 ? they are open over lunch. They?re also open Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30.
