DNR: BOW SEASON NUMBERS WAY DOWN
Friday, November 13th, 2009 -- 1:54 PM
Wisconsin bow hunters took about 22,000 deer through Nov. 5, down from about 31,000 last year. The antlerless harvest fell by about 40% and the buck harvest climbed about 7%.DNR officials think the decline is due to the elimination of the 'earn-a-buck' regulations and fewer herd control units this year.
Hunters are seeing between one to three deer per outing during the state's early hunting seasons, officials say.
