A group of area teachers have been honored for dedication to theirclassrooms and communities. The Marshfield Area Chamber Foundation last
night gave out its 7th annual Crystal Apple awards. 10 outstanding
educators were recognized, and four were saluted with top honors as the 2009
Crystal Apple award winners. They included Granton kindergarten teacher
Annette Woller.
"I couldn't imagine enjoying another profession as much as I enjoy this one," Woller said. "I would like thank MACCI, and all the businesses that helped to make tonight possible. It's been a magical evening. A red carpet night for all of us."
Other Crystal Apple award winners last night were Pittsville's Bill
Urban, Lynda LeGrand from Spencer elementary, and Lori Greenwald from
Marshfield's Washington Elementary.
Also last night, six instructors were recognized as teachers of
distinction. That group included Granton's 4-K instructor and Auburndale
native Ron Klein.
"I had a wonderful teacher in 2nd grade...who really impacted my life. He spent a lot of extra time reading with us. It really changed my life. From 2nd grade on, I knew I wanted to be a teacher," Klein said.
One of Klein's former teachers at Auburndale--Pat Johnson--was also
recognized, along with Pittsville's Becky Whitrock, and Marshfield teachers
Jane Niehaus of O-L-P and High School educators Karen Ott and Brenda
Konrardy.
The Marshfield Chamber launched its Crystal Apple awards program as a
way to recognize teachers in the six central Wisconsin school districts that
participate in the Workforce Development Program--which also includes
Marshfield's Immanuel Lutheran, Greenwood and Stratford.
