OCTOBER HERE. GROWING SEASON GONE
Thursday, October 1st, 2009 -- 11:44 AM
It?s October. The growing season is over after temperatures dropped into the mid 20s on Wednesday morning.
No surprise, but the data indicates it was a much cooler summer than usual. Richard Halopka with the Clark County UW-Extension office says there were 2075 growing degree days this summer, well below the five-year average is 2376.
September was warm, though. There were 405 GDDs, which is above average.
Much of the corn is in dent-stage. It remains unclear if it will get fully mature.
Some soybeans may also not get completely mature.
