Police in Eau Claire are looking for a 40-year-old man they say abused his five-month-old son and fled. The infant was taken to the hospital last November with broken ribs.
Jacob Sternitzky, formerly of Granton, has been charged with two felony counts of child abuse and an arrest warrant has been issued.
The child?s mother told police Sternitzky had a difficult time accepting the baby was born with Down's Syndrome. The child was eventually put in a foster home.
The couple visited the boy. That?s when the foster mother saw Sternitzky squeezing the baby so hard, the child could barely breathe.
The child is recovering.
