KAUTH IN RUNNING FOR ALICE IN DAIRYLAND

Thursday, May 14th, 2009 -- 12:34 PM

This is going to be a very, very busy weekend for a 2005 Granton graduate.

Jodi Kauth is one six women competing this week for the title of Alice In Dairyland. The finals are in Racine County on Friday night.

On Saturday, Kauth will graduate from the University of Wisconsin River Falls.

As part of the selection process, the young women sat down with Brownfield News.

Kauth said she has had plenty of agriculture experience: she grew up on a dairy farm and continues to be involved.

"I grew up working on my parent's dairy farm." Kauth said, "I'll actually be graduating this Saturday morning with a degree in Agriculture Business with a minor in Dairy Sciene."

Kauth has been active throughout her college career; she even hosted a radio program called 'Act on Ag Radio.'

Producers don?t necessarily have to be at odds with animal rights and environmental activists," she says.

"Agricultural producers are stewards of the land. They do care about their animals' welfare. Their animals and their land are their future," she stated.

Alice in Dairyland plays a crucial role in promoting the state's agricultural industry and encouraging people to support local farmers, producers, businesses, and economies by buying Wisconsin product.

The new Alice will be selected during a series of public events highlighting agriculture in Racine County, May 13-15.

The finale program is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night. You can watch it live on www.WisconsinAgConnection.com.
