Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 -- 2:19 PM
A Granton area woman was honored with a student assembly after winning a $25,000 sweepstakes for the school.Mary Bass won the General Mills/Roundy's Champions for Education Sweepstakes. She collected General Mills boxtops and entered the drawing at the Marshfield Pick ?N Save.
"Once a year they have this. You have to buy so many boxtops. Through the cash register receipt you get an application, so I applied," Bass told us. "I've applied in the past, and of course, didn't win, so, I was so surprised when the called me. I didn't believe them."
Bass had three daughters graduate from Granton, and thinks it?s nice to be able to give something back.
"It's where I live, it's where my children graduated. I want to help the community as much as I can," Bass said.
The money hasn?t been earmarked for a specific purpose, but Mary hopes it will be used for computers or technological advancements.
