CLARK CO. PUBLIC HEALTH MULLS OPTIONS

As the nation prepares to deal with a potential Swine Flu outbreak, the Clark County Health Department was left reeling last week by the unexpected resignation attempt of their Executive Director.Jane Schmitz is the Executive Director of the Clark County Health Care Center, Community Services Department and the Health Department.
She attempted to resign from her Health Department duties last week, but the Board of Health denied the resignation after some Board members questioned if employees could just decide not to do part of their jobs
"My question is, how can she resign from one spot of the three things she's in charge of? If she resigns, does she resign from all things she's in charge of? That is her job description, those three areas," Parker noted.
The situation will likely be a topic of discussion during a joint meeting of the Clark County Board of Health and Health Care Center Sub-committee on Wednesday.
