GRANT MONEY FOR CLARK CO. HOMES

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009 -- 1:11 PM

The Clark County Housing Authority is announcing the availability of some more CDBG Housing Loan Funds.

Over $290,000 of no-interest loans are available for residents of the Towns of Thorp, Reseburg & Worden for home rehabilitation, rental property rehabilitation and a homebuyer assistance loan program?

"It's HUD money that is awarded to the state, then municipalities within the state can apply for it through the Department of Commerce," explains Joan Helm, Executive Director of the CCHA.

The money is targeted to municipalities with a lot of low to moderate-income families.

There are three types of projects available. "One is for anything to make the house more weather-tight, or safer to live in. We also do a homebuyer assistance and then we do a rental property rehab loan program," she says.

Home improvements can include: roofs, siding, wiring, windows, doors, plumbing, insulation, foundation repair, furnaces wells, septic systems, and handicapped accessibility. Work is to be done by established area contractors.

If you live outside the targeted areas, you can still get on a waiting list.

Anyone interested should contact CCHA at (715) 255-9396 for an application and brochure.
